There are currently two types of diffuser machines or scenting machines which are based on their uses; home diffusers and commercial diffuser machines. Home diffusers, as the name implies, is diffusers for home use. These diffusers typically use water with water-soluble oil (WSO) to create fragrances. Below is a list of differences between home diffusers and commercial diffusers.
1. Scent Strength
Home Diffusers
Most home diffusers use water vapor as the carrying medium for scents. But oil does not mix well with water so these machines use the water-soluble oil. This comes at a trade-off. Water and water vapor do not stay in the air very well and with water-soluble oil already having a weak scent, only a faint scent can be experienced.
Commercial Scenting Machines
This is not the case for commercial and industrial grade scenting machines. These machines are designed specifically to work with fragrance oils to give out the strongest scent. Scenting machines on the other hand have multiple settings which allow a customized experience for people and a lot more convenience. Scenting machines are essentially fully automated, only needing a person to refill the fragrance oil once in awhile. Built in timers can automatically turn on and off the machine at a specific time. These timers can also control when the machine will dispense the scent and for how long. And with built in Bluetooth and WiFi, these machines can be controlled via an app even if you’re not near it.
3. Build Quality
Home Diffusers
Home diffusers use cheaper materials such as plastic and a small motor. While this makes the machine affordable for families, it also means that these machines break easily, needing to replace it once every few months. Using the wrong fragrance oil will also cause the oil to get stuck up in the motor and breaking it.
Commercial Scenting Machines
Commercial scenting machines are designed and built for commercial use.
